Workshop Session 4: Design Sketches

Planning Phase

This phase transforms research evidence into strategies through a four-session stakeholder workshop.

Neighborhood Level:
Three sessions document the workshop process.
Session 1, Gap Finder: introduces the case and the research findings to target groups. Using the Data Viewer and urban health cards, participants experience an immersive pedestrian experience at the site.

Session 2, Urban Diagnostics: the environmental evidence informs pedestrian surveys for slower-paced users. The qualitative information complements the quantitative approach.

Session 3, Planning:
uses three sustainability boards to align climate, health, and economic goals, producing a Planning Brief.

Street Level:
Session 4, Design: translates the Planning Brief into before and after spatial proposals at street level along Pedestrian Loop 2.

The Planning Phase

You are now entering the planning workshop. Using the research evidence from the previous phase, learn how pedestrian surveys and pinups help communities align climate, health, and economic goals to develop Planning Briefs for design proposals.

Putting People First in Green Planning
This short video introduces the stakeholder workshop. Four sessions apply the UrbanCare methodology and tools for community teams to develop pedestrian loops connecting urban scenes, invigorating the urban ecosystem.
